In 1989, for the centennial of the state of South Dakota, we decided to produce an in-depth historical documentary.  This program has been very well received and has sold very well.  It is the definitive work on South Dakota.  Although it has been updated several times it is showing its age and we are in the process of updating it once again.

After the success of "South Dakota's Black Hills, Badlands, and Lakes", we upped the ante with "The Tops of the Mountains".  Thhis was also done for the statehood centennial and this time we obtained the "official" status from the centennial commision.  This opened up all sorts of doors for us and we interviewed some of the top names in Utah.  We talked to the state geologist, the Governor, Steve Young, Jake Garn, and many noted historians.  We contacted Merlin Olsen, noted football player for the Rams as well as actor on "Little House on the Prairie", and hired him as narrator.  Again, this was the "definitive" work on the history and culture of Utah.  Its two hours long and it cost over 150,000 to make, even on a shoestring budget.

In 2000, when this was produced for Evans and Sutherland this was the cutting edge of DVD production.  It cost over 250,000 dollars and had over 200 videos and/or graphic elements which were triggered by a click of the remote.  The videos were all produced by Ray Balhorn utilizing the latest state-of-the-art computer graphics systems.  This program won a "Golden Spike" award for best use of a DVD in a public relations campaign.  It was also written up in "TV Technology" magazine.
